Lafourche Parish News Sources
The LPSO Crime and Arrests archive sits at the top of the list. It posts selected investigations, arrests, warrants, transfers, and updates on charges. Coverage is episodic, though. It is not a daily booking roster, and no single photograph policy governs every post.
Local and regional outlets fill in around it. The Lafourche Gazette runs recurring dated booking-log PDFs. Times of Houma, KQKI, WWL, WDSU, Daily Comet, and HoumaToday all cover events as they happen. Each one picks its own stories, images, and timing. None of them replaces the sheriff, the Clerk, or the court.
Lafourche Arrest News Outlets
The table shows what each outlet actually offers. "Sometimes" means a story may include a supplied or editorial image. It does not mean the outlet keeps a mugshot gallery.
| Outlet | Coverage | Photos? | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| LPSO | Selected parish arrests and investigations | Varies by release | Official archive |
| Lafourche Gazette | Local news and recurring dated booking logs | No faces in reviewed logs | Gazette site |
| Times of Houma | Thibodaux, Lockport, Golden Meadow and regional events | Sometimes | Crime section |
| KQKI | Lafourche, police, and arrest reports | Sometimes | News site |
| WWL / Audacy | Regional Lafourche stories | Sometimes | Local news |
| WDSU | Episodic television coverage | Sometimes | WDSU |
| Daily Comet / HoumaToday | Regional event reporting | No fixed policy found | General news sites |
| Commercial local sections | Copied arrest and booking entries | Often | Unofficial and potentially stale |
Official material earns the top spot. It sits closest to the agency action. Still, a release only reflects what was known on the day it went out. Charges, bond amounts, transfers, and final outcomes can all change afterward.
Lafourche Gazette Booking Logs
The Gazette's recurring PDFs stand out because no official rolling feed exists. A March 20, 2026 booking log shows the format plainly. It has a printed date plus fields for name, age, address, charges, booking time, agency, and a total-record count. No faces appear in that example. Other dated logs span 2023 through 2025. The format is clearly recurring. That does not promise a fixed daily schedule, full coverage, or a permanent archive. These are newspaper-hosted copies, not the official custody portal.
The agency column can name LPSO, Thibodaux Police, Lockport Police, Golden Meadow Police, Port Fourchon Harbor Police, Louisiana State Police, or Probation and Parole. A dated log is handy for that reason. It can pin down who made the arrest before you request the underlying record.
Lafourche News Has Timing Gaps
Timing is the trap. An arrest story and a roster entry can surface at very different moments. LPSO once reported two arrests in New Orleans, with transfer to Lafourche expected later. Another report said booking would happen only after a hospital release. Real cases like these show the gap. "Arrested" does not mean "visible in the parish jail portal right now."
The official archive may add charges days later, announce a higher bail, or explain a transfer. A news update can thus say more than the first roster line. It still cannot replace what the court eventually decides. Check the publication date. Notice whether the story says arrested, booked, held, transferred, or expected to be booked. The official LPSO news archive gives a stable starting point for those agency updates.

The archive view helps you spot dated releases, and it reinforces the same point: selected news posts are not a full Lafourche Parish booking feed.
How Lafourche Photos Reach News
A news photo can come from several places. It may be an agency release, an outlet's own camera work, or a public-records request. Louisiana law matters here. Code of Criminal Procedure article 234 now reflects 2022 Act 494 and 2024 Act 281. Act 281 scrapped the old blanket restrictions on law-enforcement release and public sharing. The current law keeps one duty. Qualifying outcomes trigger a free removal within seven calendar days.
Statute and live practice still have to be read together. The LPSO current-inmate portal has carried a notice that booking photos were temporarily pulled while policy and systems were updated. So a photo being legal to release does not mean one appears in the roster or in a story.
Outlets can also judge that an image adds nothing of public value. A missing face is not proof that no arrest happened. The booking record, the arresting agency, and the court file verify the event far better.
From Lafourche Story to Record
Tracing a name through the official record takes attention to custody status and dates. A story opens the check. It never closes it.
- Record the full name, event date, arresting agency, and any case or charge details in the story.
- Check the official LPSO current-custody roster to see whether the person is now held at LPCC.
- If the name is absent, consider release, delayed transfer, hospital release, another jail, or a restricted record.
- Request the booking or incident record from the creating agency when a definitive copy is needed.
- Search the Lafourche Clerk and 17th Judicial District Court sources for events and disposition.
The countywide roster, booking-window limits, records form, and custody fallbacks all live on the Lafourche Parish busted mugshots hub. A released person can vanish from the current roster. Even so, a booking record or court case may live on. Someone sentenced to state custody moves into Louisiana DPS&C systems. That person leaves the local booking channel behind.
Lafourche Court Follow-Up
The Lafourche Clerk records search is helpful but has firm limits. The criminal and civil index reaches back to July 1, 1982. Minute entries start later, on January 1, 2001. Online document images go back only to March 2018. Older material may need redaction or extra processing first. So an old news story will not always give you an instant image on screen.
The 17th Judicial District Court posts divisions, calendars, and event details. Checking a news report against the docket works best when you keep three things separate. One is the booking charge. Another is any hearing or plea event. The third is the final disposition. An event on a calendar is a step, not an outcome.
The Clerk charges fees for name searches and copies. Confirm the current amounts before ordering. The office cannot give legal advice. What it can do is show what became of a case after the news moved on.
Lafourche City News Coverage
Thibodaux Police keeps an archive of press releases. It posts no daily booking feed. Lockport and Golden Meadow offer nothing comparable. Most people those departments arrest get booked at LPCC anyway, so city coverage and the parish custody system fit together like two halves of one picture.
The Times of Houma follows all three municipalities when news breaks. KQKI's police and arrest categories are handy for Golden Meadow and the southern end of the parish. WWL and WDSU add regional angles. The Gazette tags each item with an agency label, which makes its dated logs easy to search across city lines.
One caution: a city name in a headline doesn't always tell you who made the arrest. It may not say where the person is held either. Read the story itself for the arresting department and any mention of a transfer to LPCC.
Unofficial Lafourche Mugshot Sections
Several commercial sites run Lafourche sections. The list includes Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone. Treat them as secondary sources at best. Entries can be stale, duplicated, or missing entirely, so none of them should carry more weight than LPSO, the arresting department, or the Clerk of Court.
Refresh habits vary widely among these aggregators. RecentlyBooked updates often. Mugshots.com and Mugshots.zone hold large amounts of older material. Arrests.org has a name search and a recent-arrests view, though its posting schedule is irregular. Headline counts on those pages shift from day to day, so take them with a grain of salt.
No photographs from these sites appear here. No gallery is assembled from them either. When an unofficial listing clashes with an official record, trust the official one and confirm the details there. A commercial site publishes to draw traffic, not to guarantee accuracy.
Read Lafourche Reports Carefully
Every report deserves a close read. Check the date, the agency named, and the custody language. Note whether it's a first announcement or a follow-up. "Expected transfer" means the person is not yet in LPCC custody. "Booked on new charges" is just that, a booking. "Released on bond" describes custody status only, since the case itself continues afterward.
For a fuller account, put the pieces in order: the official archive for agency context, the roster for who's currently in local custody, the custodian for the source record, and the Clerk for how the case ends. A headline or a photograph alone will never tell you all of that.
